Operations and Methods in Fuzzy Logic Systems

This paper looks to introduce the reader to the idea of a fuzzy logic system and how this type of system differs from traditional propositional logic systems by way of summarizing the foundational ideas presented in Hájek’s Metamathematics of Fuzzy Logic. Because a fuzzy system has different laws from a standard propositional one, propositional logic operations such as conjunction and implication need to have different meanings in a fuzzy system. By examining these operations, we can discover some differences between the two. One such difference we will discover is the failure of the deduction theorem as well as issues of completeness.
